For Ward 4 Councillor
Common Sense Priorities,
Practical Solutions.
Key Issues
Calgary is on track to becoming a city of 2 million people by 2030. We need to plan for the future now to ensure a thriving and prosperous city.
We need a Council that makes common sense decisions to focus on the basics and ensure that the taps are running, the potholes are filled, and our streets are safe.
We need a Council that actually listens to Calgarians and rebuilds trust by putting communities first.
We need fiscal responsibility and transparency in budgeting. We need support for local business.
My goal is to bring common sense priorities and practical solutions to Ward 4.
TOP 4 for WARD 4
-
Prioritize Core Services: Focus on essential services, like roads, water and public safety. Calgarians expect reliable and uninterrupted access to essential services. (See link)
Support Local Business: Local businesses make up the fabric of our communities, and we need policies to support local businesses and eliminate red tape.
Road Maintenance and Repair: Address potholes and road deterioration for safer commutes.
Water Infrastructure: Monitor and upgrade aging water pipes to prevent leaks and ensure a reliable water supply. (See link)
-
Fiscal Responsibility: Identify and eliminate wasteful spending in all departments.
Efficient Use of Resources: Evaluate every dollar spent by the City to maximize effectiveness and lower property taxes.
Transparent Budgeting: Implement clear financial reporting processes so that Calgarians know where money is being spent.
-
Invest in Protective Services: Police, Fire, By-law, and Peace Officers need adequate funding to ensure a presence in the community, especially around high-density and transit-adjacent areas.
Community Policing: Foster stronger relationships between law enforcement and residents to build trust and cooperation.
Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation: Support initiatives that address the root causes of crime, such as youth engagement programs and mental health and addictions services in collaboration with other levels of government.
-
Repeal Blanket Rezoning: There has been strong public outcry over this zoning change, and I have committed to repealing it. (See link)
Community Engagement: Ensure that all planning decisions are made with extensive input from the community and that community voices are heard in all council decisions. (See link)
Transparent Development: Encourage higher density and transit oriented development that respects community character. Mandate that development plans are easily understandable, with sufficient time and opportunity for community review.
Transit: Ensure reliable transit access for Ward 4, including bus routes and C-Train access.
Recreation: Support responsible capital investments that are important to families in Ward 4, like indoor fields, swimming pools and libraries. (See link)
